A LONG day at the hospital

On February 3 Dallin and I had a long day! Dallin was scheduled to have surgery on a hernia at 2pm. Dallin had breakfast and then was not allowed to eat until after his surgery. We went to Legacy Emmanuel and checked in at 12:30pm. Dallin played and then I dressed him in his hospital robe.

At about 1:30 we were told Dallin’s surgery would be delayed due to an emergency surgery before his. Dallin had fun bugging the nurses until he finally got called down to the pre-op area a little after 3. We went through all the formalities; I filled out paperwork and talked to Dallin’s surgeon. Then I handed Dallin to the anesthesiologist and they left.

I went and waited for Dallin for what I thought would be 30-45 minutes like I was told. Almost 2 hours later Dallin’s doctor came in to talk to me. He told me after he had tied off Dallins right hernia he put in a camera and saw there was another hernia on Dallin’s left side. He then went through the procedure to tie off that hernia sac. He then found that Dallin had some adhesion points left over from his circumcision. He then fixed these.

I then waited another 45 minutes for Dallin to come out of the anesthesia. He was scared, hungry, disoriented, and surrounded by strangers. We were in the ICU for a while because Dallin kept holding his breath while he was crying so it threw off all of his vitals.

Eventually after a bottle and more painkillers we left the hospital at about 8:15pm. I was exhausted and worn out from lots of waiting and lots of crying from Dallin.

Dallin has been healing great. We took off his bandages on the 5th. Dallin did not appreciate that. He now after 9 days does not complain when we put on his antibiotic. He should be totally healed soon.
