Such a good helper!

Dallin is starting to want to help me around the house. Last night he was helping with laundry. He would hand me clothes out of the laundry basket so I could fold them. He then wanted to play in his hamper after all the clothes were done being folded.

And of course Dallin is always willing to pose for the camera.

A LONG day at the hospital

On February 3 Dallin and I had a long day! Dallin was scheduled to have surgery on a hernia at 2pm. Dallin had breakfast and then was not allowed to eat until after his surgery. We went to Legacy Emmanuel and checked in at 12:30pm. Dallin played and then I dressed him in his hospital robe.

At about 1:30 we were told Dallin’s surgery would be delayed due to an emergency surgery before his. Dallin had fun bugging the nurses until he finally got called down to the pre-op area a little after 3. We went through all the formalities; I filled out paperwork and talked to Dallin’s surgeon. Then I handed Dallin to the anesthesiologist and they left.

I went and waited for Dallin for what I thought would be 30-45 minutes like I was told. Almost 2 hours later Dallin’s doctor came in to talk to me. He told me after he had tied off Dallins right hernia he put in a camera and saw there was another hernia on Dallin’s left side. He then went through the procedure to tie off that hernia sac. He then found that Dallin had some adhesion points left over from his circumcision. He then fixed these.

I then waited another 45 minutes for Dallin to come out of the anesthesia. He was scared, hungry, disoriented, and surrounded by strangers. We were in the ICU for a while because Dallin kept holding his breath while he was crying so it threw off all of his vitals.

Eventually after a bottle and more painkillers we left the hospital at about 8:15pm. I was exhausted and worn out from lots of waiting and lots of crying from Dallin.

Dallin has been healing great. We took off his bandages on the 5th. Dallin did not appreciate that. He now after 9 days does not complain when we put on his antibiotic. He should be totally healed soon.

I love to play!

Dallin loves to play with Luke. Luke decided to build Dallin a fort to play in. Dallin loved crawling in and out. It eventually collapsed so he just climbed on top.

Dallin loves to play with piggy he has learned that piggy can be used to help him climb on the couch. I never thought my pig would be an accomplice.

Car seat pictures Complete!

We took the final picture of Dallin in his car seat. It is amazing to see the changes over the year! Here is the last picture. Click on the link to the left to see the whole collection.

Mommy I need a nap!

We are learning with Dallin what a good schedule for naps is. Sometimes we get it right, other days we get it wrong. We just prefer this reaction to screaming when we get it wrong.

Happy Birthday Dallin!

Dallin is now 1 year old! It’s amazing sometimes to think that a year ago we were 2 and now we are 3. It is so weird to think what life was like before Dallin. Our lives now revolve around him. It is so fun to watch him learn and grow. We look forward to this next year and all the adventures it will bring.

Dallin still did not quite understand opening presents, even though he had 2 practice runs during the past week.

Dallin enjoyed having his first cupcake too!
The before

The feed, I'll see if I can post the video later.

And then after all the excitement it was time for bed! Oh the fun of birthdays!

SNOW! part 2

I know this is much later but I now have gotten around to updating the blog. On our one day of Luke decided to steal all our neighbors’ snow and build a snowman. Dallin loved having Luke throw snowballs at him through the window.

We don’t have any gloves for snow so Luke used socks on his hands to build his snowman.

We don’t exactly have the professional tools for decorating a snowman so we used a scarf, Easter eggs, a Santa hat, and dirt. Yes, the snowman was bigger than me.

We enjoyed the snow but were glad that this year’s storm only lasted one day!
